in 2010, but as I recollect, most of the damage she suffered was because she was married and hiding her sex work from her husband. The legal and financial consequences of getting busted were not that severe, it was the damage to her relationships with family and friends who just thought she was a normal housewife that destroyed her life. The lesson here is, don't go into this biz if you're married and want to keep it a secret. For a single lady, most of the things that happened to the lady in this movie would be a nothing-burger, and she would be back in business in a few weeks.
Society, especially other women, view providers as a threat. So public disclosure is something to avoid ... which is also true for clients. I certainly don't tell anyone that I pay for sex with random women. True I am married, but even if I were single, I'd keep it on the down low.
