The Fed actually played this perfectly, engineering the much-desired but hard to achieve "soft landing." And the Fed didn't cause the inflation to begin with. That resulted from the trillions in stimulus funds dumped into the economy by both the Trump and Biden administrations, successfully staving off economic "nuclear winter." Inflation was baked into that cake. It was only for the Fed to correctly compensate. Which it did.
