Any recommendation for a provider who doesn't require reference from another provider?  New to the hobby.

As a newbie myself, I understand where you're coming from.  Anik and Yasmine Greek would be a great choice.  Both are wonderful, talented women who are well reviewed here on TER.  So either one would be an AWESOME introduction to the fun!

Anik, who was my first, met me in a public place beforehand.  It was a really good way to break the ice.  She lives in Montreal, but visits Washington often.  She's scheduled to be in DC soon -- I think it's Feb. 15-18.  Actually that would work well for you since it would give her some extra time to screen you.  She can be reached by e-mail at: [email protected]

Good recommendation on Anik; I think she's fantastic.  However, having said that, I wouldn't recommend her for a visit this month.  If you check her website, she is booked.  You can add yourself to her "cancellation" list she offers, but IMHO this is not the way to start the hobby - hoping somebody cancels.

Better to find someone who can see you than hoping somebody cancels, maybe.

I just checked her website and Anik does still have times available next week.  I saw the following dates/times:
Washington, DC (DuPont Circle)
Tuesday, February 15th - 3pm until midnight
Wednesday, Febraury 16th - 8am until noon
Thursday, February 17th - 2:30pm until 5:30pm and 9:30pm until midnight
Friday, February 18th - 9am until 11:30am

Yes, she has does have a note that says she will put you on a cancelation list if you want.  But that doesn't change the fact that she's still available.

I'm drawing blanks here.  It's been so long since I was a newbie, I can't think of anyone right off hand.  Stick to someone who is well known.  That way you can get references and establish your "hobby portfolio."
