I enjoy DR Klassisk (http://www.dr.dk/musik/klassisk/?wmp=klassisk)from Copenhagen. I listen to it at work, and since I don't understand a word of Danish, I'm never distracted by the announcers while I'm trying to concentrate on a project.

Octane has a good mix of today's harder rock like P.O.D. or Submerged but they will also play some classic metal like older Metallica or Megadeth. Hard Attack is a good station for thrash or death metal.

It's on digital here in the UK and I believe it's also on the net.  Only problem is that some days I feel like they only have 20 records which are played over and over again (how many time can I listen to 'My girl in Tokyo'??) but maybe I just spend too much time listening and should find better things to do!

I like planet zeb (how appropos) thats on my powerbook. I also like a network radio station I have here at the studio. I'm not sure who runs or owns it, but it has EVERYTHING!

KKJZ 88.1 Long Beach, ne KLON one of the nation's original bastions of the blues in the 80s, sponsor of the Long Beach Blues Festival, harbor to Chuck Niles and the KKGO talent when they were so crassly sold out in 87. Programming is still so skillful just listening a day will school you while it grooves you... Chick-a-boom....

I contributed about 1/4 of it's playlist. :P  The woman who operates the station rocks...and she is a great singer, too!

89.3 The Current, in Minneapolis has a high quality internet feed.

It is, by far, the best radio station I have ever listened to.  It has all kinds of music, including lots of local music; is programmed by knowledgeable DJ's, as opposed to some corporate office shcmuck whose only concern is that you listen to the commercials (which, by the way, means that all they really want is for you to not hate it); and with the exception of a few national shows, is broadcast live and local, as opposed to Clear Channel and the like, who all tape their shows at their corporate offices, and broadcast them from tape weeks, if not months latter.

Oh yeah, and it is public radio, so it has NO COMERCIELS.

If you listen and like it, please become a member.  I desperately want this station to stay on the air, and the only way for that to happen is if people listen and donate.  I became a member the first day of their first fund drive, myself.
