It could have been much worse. And it isn't just a craigslist problem. (eom)

I just read about another person that got taken to the cleaners from someone on craigslist.  I had a similar thing happen to me and I'm going to post what happened so others can avoid having the same thing.

I was in Texas a few months back on business.  My wife and I are in the process of splitting and I've got a couple of kids.  I was in the mood for some action so I explored around looking for some fun.  I stumbled on an ad in craigslist that had a picture of a beautiful redhead (I'm a suck for them) naked in front of an old beat up car.  Her body was absolutely perfect.  I called and asked her if she wanted to come over.  She agreed and I waited in my hotel room.  I had "money" laying on the counter.  At the agreed apon time she showed up and I should have shut the door right then and there.  The girl was a redhead alright but was far and pretty homely. She was dressed very seductive and her tits were basically hanging out of her shirt.  It was getting late and I'm the typical nice guy so I didn't shut the door on her face.  (This will for sure never happen again; pics wrong then NO DEAL)  As she walked into the hotel room she snagged the cash on the counter as expected and agreed on.

She asked for my license and I obliged to show her.  What happened next was that she made her "normal" call to the person she was checking in with.  Instead of just stating she was here and ok she started reading off my license information over the phone.  I thought it was a little weird but didn't think much of it.  She sat on the phone for a while the said "ok." and hung up.

She came over to the bed I was laying down on and stroked my arm and said, "So, what do you want me to do to you?"  I asked her to strip for me and she immediately stood up and said sternly, "I don't know what you think I am, I'm not an escort"  I knew I was in trouble right then.  "I don't get paid for any acts like that; that's illegal.  Do you know its illegal? How would your wife feel if she knew?" (Honestly, I could care less other than my kids)  I laid there basically in shock.  She then called the person again and passed the phone to me.  The person on the phone stated that "the girl" (I wish I could remember the name she was going by) is an escort to eat at a restaurant or drink at a bar.  I knew this was total BS and was being played.  The chic over the phone gave me my address, the name of my wife, and my home phone number and stated I should keep this quiet or she'd call.

Well, I certainly didn't want her to call.  All I needed was my soon to be X to find out and use that as ammo to keep my kids away from me.

Lessons I learned:
1) NEVER accept a girl if she doesn't look like her pictures.
2) NEVER let your license or identification out of your hands
3) COVER your address up on your license when you show it.  All she needs to see is if there is a law enforcement tag on the license.  She does NOT need to know where you live.
4) NEVER use craig's list.

Of course I think this probably could happen other ways but those items should help you avoid the trap I fell into.

Those two chics really pissed the hell out of me.  If I was in another place in my life I would have called and nailed their ass.  I'm still thinking about going back down there after my divorce is final and nail them for extortion.  I'd have the upper hand this time around.  Bitches.

STuff like that gives good providers a bad name.

I'd get on Craig's list and blow the whistle, not only on the ad but the phone #, their business approach, what to watch out for.
Heck, I'd post it several days in a row.  That whole D.L. thing is scary.  IMO, you're doing hobbyists a whole lot of good posting a warning.

Just my .02 .

but I sure would love to see this little scam exposed and their asses in jail for extortion.

They told you to keep it quiet, so I suppose if they see this post they'll call?

Let us know, and thanks for warning people about this.

Had a DC agency try to pull something similar.  I think the people who do this sort of thing don't realize that there are dangerous people on either side of this hobby.  God forbid they should ever pull that on some armed, unbalanced hobbyist.  Remember, there's always someone out there who's an even bigger badass than you are (or think you are).

I hope they do pull this scam on "some armed, unbalanced hobbyist."  That way they would get their just rewards!
