Could The Beatles, have been the catalyst to the demise of the People's right to assemble and protest?

I believe this was their first single http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xuMwfUqJJM

This begs the question. Why do we protest capitalism, in a Capitalist Natio

It certainly was a test for the status quo that had never been encountered or experienced to such scale before.

I don't think it is "Capitalism" being protested. It is capitalism's inherent need for regulation, and its current 'lack of' that draws dissent.

I don't know I wasn't there.

Do they look like a threat to the status quo? It's not like they could have walked off the assembly line.

When the Beatles hit the U.S. the masses had just come through a decade of trite, saccharin sweet television families presenting an image of staid wholesomeness and sombre respect for parents and tradition. Photos like the one you offered presented a reality(although still a relatively innocent one) that the American dream of Ward, June, Wally and the Beaver was in reality a "dream".
A few short years later the Rolling Stones "innocently' thought hiring the Hell's Angels as security for an outdoor concert was a good idea.

Today crowds of celebrity idolizing youths as well as adults petitioning the government for redress of grievance are controlled by helmeted, Kevlar vested, fully militarized police with 30oz cans of pepper spray and shot guns with relatively non lethal 'bean-bags' as ammo.

I personally DO NOT consider this as acceptable progress.

The Beatles were signed and promoted by a record label, many different labels over the past few decades.

a record label is capitalist endeavour, capitalism challenged the so called, status quo.

The GOP would prefer that business simply run amok, with no meaningful regulation at all, while the Dems don't want to regulate, they want to meddle, and actually dictate to private enterprise things that aren' any of governments' business. not the least of which was "affirmative action" for housing which almost brought this country to its knees.

But the result of "affirmative action for housing" DID bring "this country to its knees" IMO.
