It was Willis's office who decided not to call her back for cross. She'd done enough damage to their cause. She'd just get chewed up again on redirect. The state wasn't going to let that happen. That's why they fought in the first place for her not to testify at all.

When the proceedings began Friday, the judge called on the attorneys to continue their examination of Willis. At that point, Ashleigh Merchant, attorney for Michael Roman the defendant who brought the motion to disqualify Willis, meekly stood up and said: “We have no further questions for DA Willis.”
It was only AFTER Merchant surrendered that the prosecutors declined to ask Willis any question. They didn’t have to because Merchant et.al. failed to prove their allegations.

It looked at first like Terrence Bradley was trying mightily to protect his friend Wade by claiming attorney-client privilege. Of course it is known what he said about Wade and Fani being in a relationship prior to being hired -- as told to Ms Merchant. However it was ruled inadmissible in court in a retroactive privilege claim. . That's when Ms Cross decided that Bradley was a risk of losing the privilege claim and threw him under the bus. She brough up the sexual assault allegation. Can you imagine going through hours of grilling trying to protect you buddy only to have his lawyer destroy your reputation on live TV.
