...be displayed in all public classrooms, from kindergartens to state-funded universities.  It's always been ruled unconstitutional but with the current Supreme Court the LA governor can't wait to spend taxpayers' money to see if the 20th time is the charm.

Do they have nothing else to waste tax payers money on? And yes, it is unconstitutional because of separation of church and state. They pull this shit whenever it is an election year.

One can argue that it’s not a religious symbol, but it’s most definitely a cult symbol and not appropriate for children’s classrooms.

And I’m not the only one who thinks so. But even if you don’t buy that argument, the point of keeping religion out of schools is that public schools are not supposed to be pushing any religious or political ideology. They’re supposed to be neutral and non-partisan.

Learning about our country is not indoctrination, it’s basic civics. Removing flags is a pretty radical notion. Are you Republican, Democrat or Libertarian?

I'm sorry MissScarlett, but if that is as far in the wrong direction as we could go. We live in the US. We SHOULD want our flag proudly displayed in each and every classroom across America. Learning about our country, both historical events and current IS learning. If your solution is "take it all down" i believe you would then turn into part of the problem.

How would allowing the US flag in the classroom be "indoctrination?" If the schools only taught that America has always been a great country, devoid of racism and discrimination, that would be indoctrination and flat out lies. Nikki Haley comes to mind. But just having a symbol of freedom in the class shouldn't be a cause for consternation.

I do think that anything religious or political should not be in schools, so on that we would agree, but I don't think the American flag is, in and of itself, political.
