Where was FEMA's quality control? They actually downplayed the formaldehyde risks.
I bought two of the FEMA surplus trailers for my summer getaway in the boondocks. I was not aware of the class action suit. One would have assumed that FEMA would have warned everyone.
We can't blame this on the Chinese, although our government allowed their bad drywall to be delivered to our shores. Yep. Competent FEDS.

feuding with this guy on the General Board, because of your feuding with him here, now you pull his posts from the general board and post them here to continue your feud.
Grow up!!!
& quit acting as GaG's mouthpiece, "mouthpiece".
I'm sure he can speak for himself without your "interference".
Btw, when someone talks about "fools" & is regarded as one by many on the boards, I thought some "proper context" was required.
Now if anyone feels the same about me, they can also provide "the proper context"; fair is fair, after all-------

I do not know how anyone else views you, and I will not attempt to speak for everyone else on the board, which you often do, regarding who you deem to be trolls, but by you dragging up someone's posts from one board to another, you appear, to me, to be quite petty and small in character. I'm just trying to give you a little perspective on how you may be being seen by others; at least one other, if you care at all.
& if you view me that way, certainly your right.
Now, in re to "petty & small" in character, you might wanna read links that I provided in re to someone's "hypocrisy"; if others want to do same about me, fine--fair's fair, as I've said.
In terms of those with "small & petty characters" no shortage of them on the boards-----
You are wanting me to read posts by some people I seldom, if ever, read at all.
as defined in the underlying lawsuit and you can always opt out of a class action anyway.
You can sue each seller in the chain up to the manufacturer if you have personal injury and maybe even if you have suffered only economic loss given that the defect posed a risk of personal injury. And if you bought from FEMA you can still sue for breach of contract without that annoying Federal Tort Claims Act getting in the way.
And the cost of filing and legal counsel may be cost prohibitive. I may try writing first then contemplate a pro se suit.
The trailers are only used 5 or 6 times a year, so I have not been damaged.
the difference between the value of the trailers as warranted
-which would be what you paid - minus the value of the trailers as delivered -which would be zero if they reek of formaldahyde, (unless you let Priapus stay there when he comes to visit you).
And the federal consumer warranty statute - Magnuson Moss - allows you to recover your costs and expenses of suit including atty fees.
Don't go pro se - you will never figure out the law.
Thanks marikod. I will check into it and speak to an attorney, perhaps the firm who is handling the class action.
There is no formaldehyde odor that I can detect. It does have a slight odor, but more like fresh paint.
During the Clinton administration, FEMA was turned into a competent agency that actually did what it was supposed to do. This freaked the conservatives out pretty bad, especially since they like to say that gov't can't do anything right. They got really freaked out about it when they saw that X-Files movie, Fight the Future. I guess I can't blame them. Martin Landau is a pretty good actor. In comes Mister "I can run a horse show", and the rest is history.
It's got nothing to do with FEMA or anything else.
Trailers have ALWAYS had formaldehyde issues based on what they are made of. It's inherent and has been that way for over 30 years.
You just bought something you didn't know shit about and now want to bitch and have someone else pay for your mistake.
Yep. You are the typical American. Ignorant with an enormous feeling of entitlement.
You apparently have been sleeping over the past 30 years.
True, formaldehyde emissions have long been a problem with manufactured homes. And that is why we now have federal standards that limit the amount of emissions permitted, displace contrary state standard, and even require warning labels in the homes in some situations.
The question for the original poster is whether the amount of emissions in his trailer exceed those standards. If so he absolutely can sue whoever sold him the trailers whether it is FEMA or if he bought from a distributor or manufacturer.
It is really no different than if you bought any other product with a defect, or a house with excessive radon levels for that matter. Does not matter whether he was ignorant of the risk of formaldehyde emisions - he is entitled to sue for his damages.
formaldehyde level for me. I figured that should be the first step.
If I would have known you were a 4th generation trailer dweller I would have asked you.
Maybe I would have found out sooner and researched more, but I am not living in them. They are for vacation and short retreats. I found them and bought them at a good price.
There is no entitlement here. I worked for everything my entire life.
