...Sen. Rafael Cruz (R-TX) was born in Canada to an American mother and a Cuban father.  Even though he was born in Canada, he is still eligible to run for president because his mother was American-born.

Barack Obama was born in the U.S. to an American mother and a Kenyan father.  Assuming, arguendo, that Obama was born in Kenya, he would still be eligible to run for president because his mother was American-born.

Yet Republicans don't question Cruz's eligibility but still claim Obama is illegitimately the President.  In fact, one Republican said: "As far as I'm concerned, Canada is not really foreign soil.  Yeah, that's the way I look at it."  She sounds like Jon Lovitz's SNL character Tommy Flanagan: "Yeah, that's the ticket!"  Actually, she sounds more like Mrs. followme.

       That’s right-your article mentions only a single Republican who actually says that, although the authors vaguely throw in that “she is not alone.” And it sounds like the authors were kind of lazy -  they only interviewed 2 or 3 other people, none  of whom are expressly identified as Republicans. But let’s assume they are GOP-that’s get us up to 3.

      Maybe you should have stuck with the angle of the Texas Tribune which headlined the article   ”Cruz Supporters Don’t Question Eligibility.” Not all of his supporters are GOP-anyone who bitterly hates Obamacare is probably a Cruz supporter whether a Democrat or a libertarian.

      And the article does not say they are stupid either, although the lady who thinks Canada “is not really foreign soil” may not have graduated magna cum laude in geography.

     This article does not provide much support for your notion that “Republicans are stupid,” does it?

       Finally, since this controversy just erupted in the past week,  isn’t it a little premature for you to conclude that  “Republicans don't question Cruz's eligibility.” Since Cruz has not declared for president and we are years away from the next election, why would they go public now anyway? Do you really think they will let this issue pass in the primary if he runs for president?

       Maybe your theory that “Republicans are stupid” and “don’t question his eligibility” is kind of half-baked LOL

Proving he knows nothing about the constitution. There goes your one voter theory.

I didn't know that he still would have been eligible because his mom was a citizen, Its not a story I followed closely but I did find it curious. More obama's actions regarding his birth certificate. I watch a lot of news, cspan and I am a big dumb republican. But I never heard that argument from your side of the aisle in almost 8 years. Fascinating!

...middle name.  Why do you like to use "Hussein" but object to me using "Rafael?"  As your buddy Willard Romney said: "What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander."  Like I said, Republicans are the stupidest people in the world.

I thought his name was Ted. So I guess Edward is his middle name..

Both of them qualify to be President as far as being Natural born citizen is concerned.

Who would benefit from America electing a non US citizen as President?

Unless Canada agrees to become the 51st state of the United States of America. You might not be aware of this. if you are born in US military base overseas, you are not considered a natural born citizen and you cannot become POTUS.

Go read the constitution. You may have never read it so, it is will be good education.

14th Amendment says...

. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.  

 
According to a 2011 Congressional Research Committee report, the understanding of the TERM Natural Born Citizen is as follow

the weight of legal and historical authority indicates that the term "natural born" citizen would mean a person who is entitled to U.S. citizenship "by birth" or "at birth", either by being born "in" the United States and under its jurisdiction, even those born to alien parents; by being born abroad to U.S. citizen-parents; or by being born in other situations meeting legal requirements for U.S. citizenship "at birth". Such term, however, would not include a person who was not a U.S. citizen by birth or at birth, and who was thus born an "alien" required to go through the legal process of "naturalization" to become a U.S. citizen.[1]

 
All the Constitution says is about qualifications required to be President are as follows:

Article 2: Section 1

Qualifications

The President must be a natural born citizen of the United States  
or a citizen at the time of the adoption of the Constitution,  
at least 35 years old  
and a resident of the United States for at least 14 years.

You just don’t know it. You will figure it out eventually when you learn to understand there are meanings other than black and white. Let me help you out here:

Read each word carefully. Besides there was debate on this subject as recently as 2008 and during Nixon Era when Republicans wanted to change the constitution so that Henry Kissinger could run for POTUS.  

You need to do a bit more research. Ted Cruz for POTUS is Led Ballon that is not going to fly. May end up in the Supreme Court.

"by being born abroad to U.S. citizen-parents"...You are interpreting this as being born to both parents who are US citizens..But one parent being US citizen is enough. You can get the citizenship by virtue of one parent being a US citizen by not having to go through process of naturalization..

A lot of legal experts on both sides, liberal and conservative, have weighed in on this and the man fully is qualified to run for POTUS, just like Hussein was - although some people on the right said he was not... What can we do its a free country...

There is a big differences in the cases of Obama and Cruz. Obama was born in the US, Cruz was not.  As already discussed, the Constitution does not define natural born citizen. If Cruz decides to run for President this is likely to be decided by the courts.  

And keep in mind that Cruz currently holds dual citizenship. Would you really want a Canadian citizen to be President of  the United States?

It would set an excellent precedence for generations to come. My vote is on courts ruling in his favor...

if it says U.S.A on it isn't that good enough?

And as always a dollar short...Lol..

He was born in Canada. He just renounced his Canadian citizenship and no longer has Canadian/US dual citizenship..Now he is fully American..

Cruz is still a Canadian citizen. Under Canadian law, you can't just renounce your citizenship and be done with it.  Cruz has to file a form with the Canadian government, pay a $100 fee and go through a process that can take up to 8 months. He hasn't done any of that yet so he's still a Canadian, eh.

2014 is just round the corner.. That's when the media circus, for 2016, starts... :D
