which has gotten him fired from several gigs-----------that could be the case why he's leaving MSNBC ; or, perhaps it has to do with the Comcast takeover. Hopefully, truthful details will come about about this.

I don't see K.O. going to CNN--perhaps satellite radio ?

I didn't always agree w/ K.O., but I was a regular viewer of the show, enjoyed it & found him to be an excellent antidote to the idiocies found on the right.

It's too bad.

...That it's not Glenn Beck who ever gets fired? That it's never Bill O'Reilly who gets suspended? That it's never Sean Hannity who abundantly leaves?

In the last 10 years, three guys with a political viewpoint and a strong following have been fired. Keith Olbermann, Bill Maher, and Pat Donahue.

Liberal media, my ass.

Oh, guess you forgot that one, how convenient.

He was just a news reader on MPR!  He was not a feature personality.

Snowman392527 reads

then why fire the guy ??

Answer is simple, he had Joe Lieberman syndrome.

I.E. He was a liberal who did not just lap up the leftist line, was open to debate and not just touting liberal montra and could still be friends with conservatives after the debate. Basically, not liberal enough..

Olbermann was fired for not being liberal enough? Really? Really?

Look, I make no bones that I'm left of center. In fact, I'm very left of center. I listen to and read many others who like me are very left of center. I have never come across a single person on the left that thought Olbermann wasn't left wing enough. NONE. The thought never even entered my mind.

Comparing Olbermann to Lieberman is like comparing the hottest provider you've ever seen to Helen Thomas and saying "hey, they both have tits."

I was talking about Juan Williams....

Snowman391317 reads

then KO did not have much of a following either...

Or when you compared him to Beck
or Hannity
or O'Reily
or Greta

Hell, come to think of it, will he even be missed...

Williams was fired because he expressed his personal opinion outside of the job. It was so silly.  Totenberg and the others do it all the time.

I don't watch TV news, so I have only heard clips when he is outrageous enough to call attention to himself and "make the News the news," so to speak.

However, some of his rants are the most caustic thing I have ever hear on the media.  The slew of insults that he can spout in a rapid tempo and an angry voice is amazing.  (And he does sound angry.)

Some of the times I have heard him I thought it had to be a caller because professionals don't rant like that.

I do not ever hearing any of the right wing people spew that way, other than Savage who is no longer on in the area where I live. (I think.)  People like Hewitt, Pragger, and Bennet are increidably mild when compared to Olberman.  (Ironically, when you compare those people to Olberman, the right can be proud.  From 5 a.m. to 5 p.m., the lineup on their station in L.A. is Ivy League grads who had some intellectual achievements.  Olberman is a sports caster who got into political broadcasting. He has that energy and ppassion of a sports fan, not the meditative natutre of an intellectual.)

(BTW: When people talk about the trailer trash idiots as the basis of Fox the Tea Party, these intellectuals llike Bennet and Pragger don't fit in to that generalization, and they were very supportive of those organizations.)

With all the talk of how caustic the right wing is, Olberman was a mirror to the left, and when they looked into the mirror they saw one angry dude rating in a venomous way.

(BTW - I think he has a right to do so, and I am sorry they are taking him off.  Please note that unlike Libs here who go bongos over people like Rush, I don't know if I ever posted over the nasty, viscious remarks Olberman made.  I have no problem with heated debated, so a speaker who is heated is not an issue to me, except as to the views he espouses, not the manner, primarily.

Limbaugh, Hannity & Beck. INCREDIBLY caustic individuals. The "incivility" you bemoan from the left, actually started from right-wing talk radio types mentioned above. K.O. was merely a leftist "rebuttal" to their vitriol; had talk radio not had its extreme right-wing bias ( FAR more of a bias than the "mainstream media", IMO )
K.O.'s show never would have made it to the air.

In closing, lemme make this pre-emptive remark: am against re-instituting the "fairness doctrine", which is a form of censorship, IMO.

I don't think they ever go on rants like Olberman.  "The dumbest person in the world" because it is someone you disagree with.

I have to say this is a matter of whose ox and whose opinion, because apart from the satire, I never thought Limbaugh was that caustic. Or Hannity.

We will have to disagree and make this a matter of opinion, because I just never heard that vitriol.

Even your post is typical of my theory of mirror and the anger of the left.  I did insult in my post, I don't think. You start with the "Three Stooges."

In closing, I will say this.  I have often heard them described as caustic and a friend at a party once said that.  I asked if she listened and she said she did not.  I said it is very hard to defend in a vaccuum.  I suggested that we listen to the same hour for set times, so we could actually discuss specifics.  We did the first hour for a week, and at the end she didn't have that much to say.  If you wanted to experiment and analyze we could say the first hour on X day, and you tell me what is so caustic.

Lets not also forget Glenn Beck apologizing for calling BHO a "racist".

I thought the 3 Stooges were a great comedy team----------;)

Yes. This is so unlike "The stupidest person in the world."

As I said above, people have been making humor of accents for ever.  It is a staple of humor around the world to make fun of how other people sound.  I know.  When I was studying Russian, I remember short stories where the Russian (Soviet) author was mocking Americans who were bringing in supplies over the North Sea.  They made fun of them by mis-prouncing some of the vowels common in Russian that non-native screw up.

I have seen the same thing in France, Ireland, Italy, and a score of other countries where people mock other accents. I have been the butt of the humor and laughed along.

I was just listening to a non-political show (Bill Handel in L.A.) the other day, and one of his crew specializes in accents to make fun of people.  He was doing Brit the other day, and I am sure he is not "anglo-phobic."

Wow. So Rush does a gig where to make a point he mimics someones accents.

And this is an example of how bad the right wing talk show hosts are.

I just do not get it.

A friend told me the story about how he reads Thurber and why.  I thought that was fantastic, even if I didn't care for the rest of what I heard.

and am not sure, which is why I hesitate to post it, that his father was dying and he would read Thurber to his father, who was a Thurber fan.  He just started reading on the air.  As I say, I am not sure if it is true, but wanted to give him the credit for a nice thing, so I never verified it.

Olbermann is going to find his way back to Sports Center. The last thing I want is this arrogant opinionated piece of shit ruining one of the few decent shows left on TV.

Best scenario is to put Olbermann on the sidelines for Sunday's Steelers/Jets game. Then have one of the Jets receivers run a sideline pattern real close to Olbermann. Troy Polamalu misses the tackle on Santonio Holmes, but takes out Olbermann. I can dream can't I?

on two....hut, hut.

He was an asshole on ESPN. Turned it off when he was on. Took arrogance to new heights, he did.

use Troy Polamalu. He won't miss. LOL Have the dumb ass Jet's receiver run into full speed.

After watching him, once, go through his worst person list, I stopped watching. I don't go into demonizing of vilifying anyone. Just give me the news thank you!
