I am new to this and tried it for the first time in Las Vegas. I found a gorgeous girl via the web and made an appt. First she wanted $200 for the agency fee. Then she wanted $400 for her fee, but that turned out to be a massage and HJ! Not what I had in mind for $600. When I asked the cost of doing more, I was floored to hear is could be 1K to 2K. Now I know I am new but I also felt stupid to spend this much money on an HJ. What is a realistic amount of money for a realistic and totally satifying appointment?
In most cities, there are both good and bad agencies and good and bad indy's. Use this board and other local boards to find what you are looking for. I run an agency along with my wife and it is a damn good one. We have several very good agencies in Seattle and a few that you would not like to do business with. We also have a several very good indy's and a few who you would not want to do business with. It is like anything, do your research, and you will be rewarded.

You got ripped off. The money that you paid sould have gotten pretty much what you wanted from a legitimate provider. I have made that mistake recently. Do review research, have a BIG list with a lot of names and numbers when you arrive at your destination and do NOT call anyone who is not on that list.
I believe on average one should be able to find a good independent or reputable agency that does not upsell for around 250-350. Some markets (such as Vegas) might be a little higher because they prey on tourists, or due to cost of living for that particular city/state.
Don't get discouraged if your first endeavor into the hobby wasn't that great. It's a common newbie mistake that we've all made, and some idiots never learn. Just remember if it sounds too good to be true it probably is. It would not make since for the most attractive lady with high demand to charge bargain basement prices.
Doing your homework is critical, to make sure you avoid scams. Researching reviews, contact the reveiwer or other hobbyists if needed, post on local boards, and talking to the provider in advance so you know what to expect will hopefully help you avoid these problems.

The name of the game in Vegas ripoff, upsell, then ripoff... many major cities have great communiites, but vegas is not one of them.

If you don't mind a bit of a drive, full service is available legally in many counties in Nevada (not in Vegas, though). The places near Beatty (about two hours drive north on US 95 from LV) are nice, particularly the Shady Lady. Been there a few times -- friendly folks and good service. Worth the drive.
Be real careful with the places in Pahrump -- most of them look to be overpriced clip joints, AFAICT.
