Seen some ladies both here on vacation and back home on backpage.com that I would be interested in seeing, but I'm a little skittish about LE traps. How common is it? Are most ads legit? I try Googling the phone numbers only to sometimes see more ads, but not a lot of reviews out there. How can I spot traps, or fakes. Any advice appreciated!
Don't see a gal from BP unless she also has plenty of good reviews on TER or elsewhere.
Use it as a place to do some scanning but not selecting.
LE does set up stings using BP.
Nothing good comes out of Backpage...! perhaps the minor of hassles you can have is LE trap, you can also be a victim of pimps, robbery, assaults. I think that your best bet is to stay away from BP, tons of highly reviewed, safe and legitimate ladies here in order to avoid the headaches.

see well-reviewed ladies. Most experienced hobbyists will say that means a lady with at least 5 or 6 reviews from established reviewers with a minimum of the same number of reviews over time.
Doesn't matter where you find the provider (BP, Eros, or other escort mall), if she doesn't have a good review history it is better to pass than take a chance on wearing silver bracelets.
There are some who've been in this game for a while who enjoy combing backpage for the "hidden gem". I also think they'r after an enhanced thrill of the chase. IMHO, this is a game to play once you've mastered the simpler process of finding and seeing well-reviewed escorts from TER, p411, etc.
Personally, I wouldn't see -anyone- without reviews or a referral from a hobbyist or provider I know personally.
But, that's just me...
I guess thats where I'm confused how would you get reviewed if no one sees you? Im a newbie.
Your question pops up a lot from the newbie providers on this board. You see us telling the newbie hobbyists to see only well reviewed women, then wonder how can you get reviews if everyone only sees well reviewed women. It is a very valid question. However if you notice, we are always telling the NEWBIE hobbyists to stick to well reviewed women. This is to keep them safe and to hopefully guaranty them a good time in their inital sessions. (Well there are no real guaranties, but you can increase your odds.) Now there are a lot of more 'seasoned' hobbyists out there who are more than willing to see unreviewed providers or TOFTT (Take One For The Team) if you will.
It is generally not a good idea for a newbie provider to see newbie hobbyists anyway. Sort of like the blind leading the blind. Its good to see some more seasoned guys as you are starting out, then you can see newbies if you want. However another side to that is that some veteran guys are less than scrupulous and try to take advantage of newbie providers, so screen well and dont compromise you beliefs or comfort levels in what you are willing to do.
If you post on the discussion boards here, to get your name out and people start getting to know you, there will be some guys willing to take a chance and see you, and write your first reviews. If you provide good service, and the first reviews are good, then more guys will want to see you, then you will soon become one of the 'well reviewed providers' we always recommend the newbies here see.

Also, check on the M&G board or with some local providers if there is an M&G scheduled in your area. I went to my first M&G recently and met a couple of very fine ladies who are new to the hobby. The more experienced gentlemen had a chance to talk to them and they very likely are getting a few TOFTT visits. And you can also meet some of the providers in your area that you can ask for help as mentors.

The easiest way to spot a trap or fake ad is to fall for it.
On the serious side, yes BP is not your best friend when it comes to the hobby. The ratio of scams, fakes, upsells, bait and switch and any kind of rip off to good providers is horrendous. True, there are some locations that there is not a large choice in hunting ground. Also there really are some legit, nice providers found there. Overall, backpage just isn't the place to be, especially without plenty of research and experience.
Follow the advice of these other posters! Too often someone doesn't and has a bad experience to write about.
I got Lucky. I found a Gem from B.P. back in March. Super Nice and a Sweetheart. All I can say is do your Research and look up Reviews of a Provider you're interested in seeing. You may run into a few Bad Providers. But it's all part of the Game.

Anyone can advertise there for a few bucks.
Many very legitimate escorts advertise there; some do it because they live in (or are visiting)
small-market areas that do not have a presence on TER or other major site. Some do it simply
to reach as many clients as possible.
There are also scammers, thieves, and potential stings advertising on BP.
Many people here will tell that "Backpage is no place for a newbie to shop". That is probably true, since there is no way that any veteran can teach you, in 25 words or less, how to separate the good from the bad. If you look at my reviews, you'll see that I have visited many girls who only advertise on BP. I have TOFTT many times, and had plenty of good experiences with only a couple of mediocre or bad ones.
So it is NOT true that BP is to be avoided at all costs. What IS true is that if you have to ASK how to spot problems there, you don't BELONG there.

And in many other posts you are one who always says "avoid BP at all costs!"
There are TER Top 100 ladies who advertise on BP. I know at least one lady who was advertising on GLS and BP at the same time
"Avoid Backpage at all cost if you are a newbie" I agree with your observation regarding top ladies advertising on BP being that geographically BP may be more efficient in certain cities of the USA however, I do think that as a newbie, it is quite difficult to spot problematic situations or potential LE traps if you haven't had the experience of a seasoned gentleman who is constantly reading ads, running their pictures on Google Image, running their phone numbers in Google etc. In the large scheme of things, I think that even as an experienced hobbyist, trying to find those "diamonds in the rough" in Backpage is quite exhausting, unnecessary and time consuming specially when you can come to TER and find a legitimate lady just by browsing on the ads, click on the reviews and is done.
Bottom line: BP is not necessarily an evil website but not the best option to those with doubts about the legitimacy of a lady or those with not enough time to do extensive research about her. I do want to add that particularly in my area (South Florida) the majority of stings have originated from BP so perhaps for that specific reason, my generalized opinion about it is just negative.

My hangup is when people make blanket statements (Backpage is a cesspool! Backpage is dangerous! Avoid backpage at all costs! etc.) As Clarence said, backpage is simply an ad site, no more no less. Almost all of the escort ad sites have scams on them (escept maybe GLS, but that is a tiny sample as far as the number of escorts available on that site). Even TER ad boards have had fake ads, and P411 has had LE infiltration and a sting. Granted, backpage probably does have a much larger share than most other places. It is a good idea for newbies to avoid IF they have a choice. If a newbie hobbyist is in a place like LA, LV, New York, Florida, etc, where there are so many other sources to find good escorts, then therei s no reason to look on BP, but if he is in an area not servied by other sites, then that might be the best or even the only option! We dont know where this OP is from or where he is travelling to.
I just thing the better advice, rather than the blanket statement of telling newbies to avoid BP at all costs, is to say to stick with well reviewed providers. No matter what source they found the provider on, they should search for reviews.

Being that very few high-end providers come to Alabama, many advertise on Backpage because many hobbyist here don't know about TER, Eros, etc.
Put it this way to describe the slim pickings of quality providers here:
There are at least 50 ads on Backpage today for Birmingham. On Eros, there are 12.
I've a few of the good providers that visit here say that many touring girls don't come back because of the low demand for quality providers. Most hobbyist here in Birmingham want a 30 minute $100 session.
There are maybe 3 decent providers in Birmingham and they tour most of the time.
Twice I've called a $400-$500 provider that was listed in Birmingham and she told me that she left 2 days earlier because of the lack of hobbyists willing to pony up the cash for a high-class woman.
I'm asking because between Wilmington NC and Port st Lucie area there are not a lot of options. Wilmington has some agencies, but they aren't reviewed and the girls are less than quality. PSL seems like a dead zone. The only good women I've seen are on backpage.

Pics are fake!!! especially if 100 or less is the donation.... Some of us providers use bp, just to get more exposure (the adver fees are cheap)....I use it cuz I change locations, it's easy for my regs to pull up the site & get my phone number & see wat side of town I'm on
I've checked through the other ladies ads before with a client who hobbies alot & had seen many of the girls
& so many of the pics he told me either it absolutely wasn't the girl, or the pic was the girl but like frm 10or more years earlier.
If she looks like she could be a model & she has a very low donation amount, to me that's a red flag that there might be somthing wrong, like a bait & switch or just a fake pic......or some type of scam all together, like a take the money & run....
Just don't let the pics fool ya sweety......& asking her to send a pic to see if she's real, is only going to bring you problems, number 1, if she posts fake pics, she's going to have fake pics to send ya & by asking her, lets her kno you are an easy target....
If she is the girl in the pics & not a scam, she is going to think you are LE, or possibly a scammer (we hav guys who ask for us to send pics, then they try to make ads using our pics), she might even think your a stalker cuz sending a pic frm her location cud identify where she's at.
If a choose someone (with 6 or more recent reviews) you will do fine and eventually get the hang of it...
Theres not too much work involved. Pic the girl, google her number & if good reviews are there...schedule the appt & go have fun !!!!!!!!
