Just random, but since the Super Bowl is in MN, made me reminisce about Prince. For me, my top three, in no particular order: Metallica, Prince, Michael Jackson. I grew up in the 80's. I could throw in Led Zeppelin and NWA too. I have a broad taste in music. I appreciate  talent for what it is across all genres. No Michael Jackson jokes...we all have our opinions about him. Just talking about musical talent and fave artists.

The Cramps, a garage punk band that emerged during the late 1970s and who were active until about 2009 (when lead vocalist Lux Interior died); they combined punk, rockabilly, surf and a don’t give a crap attitude into a unique style and sound.

Indeed. "Baby's on Fire" is one of my fave songs of all time. Robert Fripp's guitar shredding is mind blowing!

Zappa, with the Mothers and after, is a favorite for sure. 2nd greatest guitarist ever IMO. The first being Hendrix, of course (all bow down).

I agree about these posts.  There was one in the Chicago Regional about fun places to go.  The ladies responding with non-strip clubs had great leads, many of which I did not know about with live music and just fun.  Never had huge desire for just WBTYM.

I couldn’t agree more ... in addition it allows people to get to know more about on another... in my case notices we have similar tastes in music .. clicks profile ... links to p411.. links to your web page ... reads clicks around ... picks jaw up off ground ... starts tying to figure out how to cross paths

Rush, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Metallica and Led Zeppelin. I like many genres, but these bands specifically have have so many hit songs, over many albums, they stand out. Beyond having so many albums and songs that have become hits, Pink Floyd, Metallica and Zeppelin, had a totally different sound with each new album released. When Ozzy went solo, his albums also sounded completely different than the sound of Black Sabbath. It’s one thing to be talented and make hit music, it’s another level when you can completely change your sound with each new album and still be successful over and over.

I have quite  a diverse music taste ranging from the group Journey to Elton John(I will always smile at the memories of seeing him center stage 3rd row elton puts on one hell of a show)to jazz music and oldies.

The longer their history, the greater variety, and the more ups and downs.  Bob Dylan (all over the musical board)? Frank Sinatra (went on too long)? Beatles (covered so many musical bases)? But I'll take a stab.

OP wasn't clear. There are Creative Arts, Performing Arts, Martial Arts and other arts and mixtures.  Many of my hostesses are embodiments of Visual Art and practitioners of Performance Art.

But you're right. Orchestras are primarily Performance Artists (with limited opportunity to add something creative to the composers' works).
