Key elevator means you need a key to actually work the elevator.  ANY hotel that has security at the elevator isn't just standing there to look cute, it's to check room keys.

I posted the Wynn and Encore as both having Security at the elevator, in which case you NEED a key.

This is the updated version of the original list I had posted.  I hope this one helps as much as the last one did!!

Four Seasons- Security at the elevators after 6pm, sometimes they are always there, but very nice.

The Hotel- No Security

Mandalay Bay- No Security

The Luxor- No Security but elevator requires a key to access a floor.  East and West wing towers do as well now.

The Excalibur- Security and sometimes very rude.

The Tropicana- No Security

Hooters- No Security

The MGM- No Security at the main elevators.

The Signature- Have to pass a guard at a gate so need your name called down

The Mansions at the MGM- Key Entry only

New York New York- No Security but some towers require a key to access a floor.

Monte Carlo- No Security

The Bellagio- Security but very nice

Planet Hollywood- No Security.

The Paris- No Security

Bally's- No Security

The Westin- No Security

The Platinum- No Security

Ceasers Palace- Security at some towers but usually nice.

Bill's Gambling Hall- Not sure about now but when it was Barbary Coast, they would try to take pictures and have been known to chase you to get one, not kidding.

Imperial Palace- No Security

Harrah's- Security and very rude and ask for ID's however there is a secret back way up that isn't that hard to find and by passes security.  Also if you see the lady before 8pm, she can access the elevators near the parking garage entrance.  If she goes to the 4th floor, she can get to any tower ;)

The Flamingo- No Security

The Mirage- Security after 9pm or 10 but always sweet.

T.I.- Sometimes they have Security and other times not.

The Sahara- No Security

The Stratosphere- No Security

The Wynn- Security after 9pm but usually no problem.

The Palms- Security all the time.  Sometimes they are accommodating and nice, other times rude and questionable.

The Rio- No Security for the most part but sometimes they do, usually nice but can be judgmental so best to meet downstairs.

The Orleans- Security but nice.

The Gold Coast- No Security to my knowledge.

Venetian- Security after 9pm on the 2nd story but requires key to enter and always security on main level.

The Palazzo- Security

Circus Circus- No Security

Riviera- Security at some towers but usually nice.

Sun Coast- No Security

South Point- Security but never a problem

GVR- No Security

Golden Nugget- Security after 9pm but sweet

Wild Wild West- No Security except patrolling the parking lots which is how you enter the room.

Palace Station- No security to my knowledge.

Trump Tower- Just opened but I haven't been there, sure there is security though.

Encore at the Wynn- Security no issues at all.

Palms Place- Key Access.

Red Rock- No security but key access only.

Aliante Station- Not to sure, I have yet to go there.

JW Marriot in Summerlin- No security.

Downtown hotels excluding the Golden Nugget I do not visit, so have no knowledge about and same for most casinos outside Las Vegas city limits.

So there it is.  I hope this helps.

true but hotels  often change key designs... especially those with "shows"

In the past I have visited traveling ladies hosting incall at both the Sahara and Stratosphere.  On both ocasions there was security at the elevators checking room keys, and the lady had to come down and escort me through.  In both of these cases, in was late at night on a weekend, so there is the possibility of elevator security at these properties at certain times.

I frequently stay at the Renaissance on Paradise, north of Flamingo, and just south of the Hilton complex.

a non casino hotel, its less than 50 feet from the valrt to the elevator. No security, light traffic friendly staff.

I've had many visitors over the years, never an issue.

Plus they let me park my trike right there in front:)

Venetian will have more security especially on weekends at both entry points all day, just need to show key.

South Point just need to show key at elevators, usually after 6PM and into the evening, during day no problem.

Other than that good stuff......

While there is a guard gate if you drive directly onto the Signature property, you can get easily walk into the Signature via the MGM with no security.

However, the elevators require a key to access the floor.

It means YOU NEED A KEY to get to the elevator.  You CAN NOT get to the elevator, let alone the room without a key card to show to security.  Most hotels that have security at the elevators, don't require a key to access the floors.  Unless it's the penthouse etc.

If I said you need a key to work the elevator.  It means just that.  You will HAVE to insert a key in order to press a button.  You WILL NOT be able to go anywhere in the elevator without a key, if it's a key access elevator.

I hope that clarify's the list.  I assumed everyone knew that if security was at the elevator it meant you needed a key.  Sorry for the confusion.

It seems that I confused some.  So I wanted to make sure anyone who travels, here weren't inadvertently confused, or misunderstood.  I know my typing can be misleading and all, so just made a clarification as to what SECURITY AT ELEVATORS meant.  Simple as that.

**Please note: Security means you will need a key to show security in order to access the elevators.

Great list Tasha

Thanks Tasha!  This is a fantastic list.  About to have my first Vegas experience and this is awesome info.

I would have thought that most providers would have a collection of keys to show security that they have obtained over time. Especially now that most casinos don't seem to want the keys back. I know I have a few keys from Caesars and Wynn that I have brought home with me.

This really helps me plan my next Vegas vacation, when I hope to have my first escort experience.  I'll be nervous enough, the last thing I'll want to do is go downstairs and get the girl!

I stayed at Bellagio over the winter and was surprised to see security there 24/7 and I wondered if all of the nicer hotels were like this.  From your list I am happy to see that is not the case.
