Most of my clients stay at the Venetian. I am there all the time . It isn't hard at all to get to the room . You just have to meet the lady downstairs and escort her to your room . If you need to be discreet then you slip her your extra room key and she can get up to your room on her own . No problems , Never been stopped ,never been asked for my I.D.

A hobbyist called me to schedule an appointment and I noticed it was an out of town number. We spoke throughout the day and I soon relized that he was using a calling card, and I did not have a call nack number.  He mentioned that he was a high profile guy and the area of the hotel that he will be staying in would be heavily guarded. He asked me to wait in a particular area and he'd come down and meet me. However, he said I'd need to give the guards my id in order to enter the private area as I was not sa registered guest. I was somewhat reluctant to give them my id. Needless to say, I did not go as I was not sure if this was normal procedure. Did I over react?

Your antennas were receiving bad vibrations. So you did the absolutely correct thing.

There is no need to show your ID to accompany a guest to their room.

He should have given you a good call back number and met you in a public place.

That situation was entirely filled with red warning flags.  I have never had a situation like that let alone one at the Venetian.

Men who are secretive and say they are high profile generally aren't.  The ones that are...well you'll never know it because they give you what you need for screening and don't draw attention to themselves.

Always go with yout gut feeling!

So right Sara.. I`ve been to the Mansions at the MGM.. you have to call before entering the gates.. and all you do is give your name. MOST people that work there don`t even know where the gates are..LOL.( even Valet..) anyways. then the Butler asks you what you would like.( after they park your car.. and hold your hand as you get out of it..LOL). thats when you tell him.. POPCORN made the old fashion way.. with alot of butter..LMAO>> ( thats what I said.. and everyone lOVED it..).. that place is amazing.!!. So these security jokes usually are want to be COPS. with little weiners.. !!If its a high profile guy.  believe me.. you will know.. and nO HASSLES will happen.. !

No You didn't over react.

I have been with quite a few high profile guys and they never said to me upfront " I am high profile"...........only after the fact I found out;-)

Been many times to the Mansion at MGM , Villas at the Rio, The Michael Jackson Penthouse at LVH and whatever they call them at the Mirage  and I was never asked to show I.D.
While being escorted with the registered guest no questions are even asked.
If I wasn't escorted by the guest "security" was told that I was expected , all I had to do was say my name and I was let through.

"heavily guarded" LOL LOL ......an old dude with a walky talky and a stick is hardly considered heavily guarded.

You did the right thing , always go with your gut!!

I agree with cindy.  I just got back from Las Vegas and i stood at the Venitian.  MY date and I didnt get stopped once.  If I had seen Cindy downstairs i would have loved to givin her my key.

When staying at the Venetian is it hard to get a lady to your room?? I know they have security at the elevators but it always looked like if someone had a key it was ok! I'm going to be there at the end of this month and don't want any problems. I would love to hear everyone's thoughts!!

...is no problem...same as at most hotels, just show your room key.  My biggest issue with security is how the hell to retreive and flash my room key while carrying two drinks...well, assuming I can even find the room key!

Carry two drinks that is with my room key in my front pocket.

Of course that is what the provider is for sir.

I told her to reach in my pocket and get the room key and show it to security. She was reaching in and "gee I feel a little funny" to which I replied "go a little deeper and you'll fee nuts"
