I know some Asian providers are very reticent to see Asian gents because of the possibility of running across someone they know in their community. Then there's that great scene from Full Metal Jacket where the provider won't initially see a black guy until he shows her that the Mississippi black snake isn't so intimidating.

Similar discussion was just on Washington DC board. Just as you are free to choose who you see, ladies are free to choose who they see. As you can see in the discussion above, it's not just the Asian agencies that ask the race question.
