I like the bar at the Prava (near the Galleria, between Alpha and the Tollway I think), and to be honest, I don't know the others! But I'm not from Dallas, y'know.

I remember the Renassaince having a nice "upscale" lounge inside...and of course all of the places up and down McKinney. Also, the bar inside the old Italian place in the West End, Florenzo's--is that place still there?

Okay,
Bobbo

I've always been a little partial to The Melrose setting.  Nice dark corners and comfy chairs.  Ghost Bar is cool but a little too "look at me" for my taste.  I need to check out the Rattlesnake Bar at Fearings; heard great things about it.

cliff cafe is not a bar.  it is a breakfast type diner (?) It is at the base of the belmont hotel and the belmont bar is eclectic.  It is a neighborhood bar and the neighborhood (mine) is full of artists and the uber-hip.  Couples many of which are gay .. not a pick up bar but GREAT view of downtown from the patio if you are on a date.

Stoneleigh was recently remodeled.  The Schrader group bought the old hotel and did a nice job with it.   Lovely lobby bar.  Dragonfly is attached to the zaza and unless it is recently changed.. that is the place to pick up a hoochie mama (non-pro) ready to party.

Rattlesnake bar can also be a good choice.  Good for people watching and there will be a fair number of ladies looking to make friends and/or find a rich boyfriend/husband.

Ghostbar.. I've never been there it wasn't a bust.  really dull.  All three times I've been they had a line of people waiting.  But in the bar not many people at all... I have never found it cozy.  If I am at the W.. I would go to the downstairs bar.

Joule on main street might be worth checking out.  Joule is owned by the same folks as 'W' but it is part of their 'luxury boutique' line of hotels.  I've heard the bar is nifty but haven't been yet.  The hotel is very new.

enjoy yourself in town.. I hope you find what you are looking for.

Do not miss the Menger Hotel's downstairs bar. Opens onto the street, across from the Crockett Hotel, and a fine place to meet!

Sorry if this is a little off the topic, here.

Okay,
