Most clubs in town have a similar rule. It is to both keep the money for ladies in house as well as to keep LE off their backs. Find a guy in the parking lot, grab him by the arm and explain you need to be escorted inside. I have had this happen to me at Follies before and I was fine with it. I once had my favorite parking attendant there ask me to do this for a lady.  

And to answer your question: Yes I have spent WAY too much time in strip clubs  I used to walk into the Pony and the DJ would announce my arrival (until I asked him to stop)

However on the food question, I have always made it a rule not to eat in clubs. Distracts me from my special purpose (Steve Martin reference) and I just don't find it appealing.
