It's one of the perks of having a VIP membership. VIP members have access to this feature, while basic members do not.

If you are a Basic member, any mail sent to you will remain in your inbox, but you can read it only while you are a VIP member.

As a relative newbie (about 2 months, 3 reviews)I spend a lot of time reading the boards.  I really like them and I like that they are moderated. I am posting this to say that I really appreciate it that someone goes to all that trouble.  I also have questions about the moderators and the process. What I don't know much about is moderators.  It seems like their role is to maintain the TER standards.  It also seems like they take some heat for doing part of their job.  Are moderators staff?  Is it a volunteer job?
From the occassional peeks into what goes on I get the sense that they keep order on the boards.
Is there a list of who the moderators are?  Are they supposed to be anonymous?  Are they providers? Customers?
I would appreciate hearing the opinion of others and any light on how the moderation process works.
Thanks
B

All members start at TER as moderated on the message boards; this means that the local moderator needs to approve their post before it goes up.  Moderators also, based on posting history, may choose to un-moderate certain users.  This means that their posts will go up real time.

Moderators enforce our ad posting policy.

Moderators keep the peace and try to start conversations to make their board more interesting.
It is a fun job, only compensation is free membership and the pride of knowing you are helping out in your city. (plus you usually find out all the local gosip)

So all of this said ... who is the moderator of the General Discussion area.

May I help you with something?

Thanks for the links and information.  So if one wants to send a message to the moderator what email address is used (I could not see where that question was answered, maybe I missed it)?
Again, part of my initial post was to say thanks for the thankless task.
