A friend of mine was there a few weeks ago and had plans to meet his Colombiana novia from Medellin. When they saw a hot, single chica traveling alone on a Colombian passport they tried to hold her up for a thousand dollar "visa fee" before letting her into the country.  

 
What he found out later is that virtually all chicas flying in from either Venezuela or Colombia are being held up when entering the country as there are so many women "working" in Cancun, most of them coming from those two countries which coincidentally have the hottest women in the region. What's bad for the putas is good for you, as you should be able to find a plethora of chicas working down there without going through the agencies that operate down there charging rates that are close to the US in price.

I began traveling there in 1990 and The hotels have improved with 5 star restaurants and imported entertainment. I’ve only seen one independent Latina provider on TER who travels between Mexico City and Cancun.
