Imp, you haven't a clue until you've actually dated a stripper or a dozen of them

and YES, there are actually some "reputable" strip clubs in this world, but of course it's all a matter of degree. Hookers sell sex, by and large strippers sell the "illusion" of sex, but if you know what to look for and don't make it easier for them to fuck you than have sex with you, you can actually get laid in a strip club without spending a ridiculous amount of money.

Guys that are stupid in strip clubs deserving the fucking that they get (or don't get). It's so funny picking up your stripper GF from the back entrance of the club at closing time and looking at the parking lot of horny guy in the front of the club waiting for the stripper they just spent five grand on to meet them in the front of the club who never show up. It's a scene that is repeated night after night in town after town. YES There is a sucker born every minute.

Sorry IMP, I know you do try, but you know about as much about strip clubs as you do about finance, no worries though, you can't be an expert at everything, and unfortunately a Google search just isn't enough to allow you to fake it on most subject, strip clubs most definitely being one of those subjects. I'll tell you what, when Lopaw and I write our book, I'll send you a free autographed copy. lol

a good primer on how not to be taken in.

Sounds like a good story as well, to say nothing of the eye candy qualities.

Anyone seen it yet?

As for the "eye candy" I will confess that JLo looks awfully good for 50.

I seriously hope that no one on this board needs a movie like this to be their lesson on "how not to be taken in", but it looks like it might be worth a look. I just hope it doesn't get too "preachy" where it comes to the "heroes" being some kind of SJW's. That said there are a LOT of really stupid rich guys who hang out at strip clubs. I was thinking that maybe lopaw, CDL and I would put together a tutorial on how to navigate strip clubs, get laid, and NOT waking up the next morning with your CC's maxed out, and missing both your Rolex and one of your kidneys lol

Great idea!
There is soooo much for the stripclub neophyte to learn.

The movie is called "Hustlers" and there is (was?) a Hustler's strip club in NYC. However, I think that the real story mostly happened at the real Scores strip club in NYC.
.
Most of the exotic dancers and the actresses portraying them are 30+ yo.  Some of our loyal TER readers would NEVER be taken in by anyone like because they wouldn't even cast a sideways glance at anyone 30+.
.
To rephrase mrfisher's warning, if you are going to go to strip clubs make sure that they are REPUTABLE strip clubs with reputable dancers!

I wonder just how many strip clubs there are named Hustlers? I know Larry Flynt alone owns several by that name. lol

And to repeat my comment about fishbro's "warning" Anyone who has found their way onto this board, ESPECIALLY since they have to use a VPN to view it most certainly already knows all about strip clubs. And please, explain to the class just what makes a strip club "reputable" in your opinion? Some of the biggest and most famous strip clubs in the country turned out to be a lot less than "reputable" when all the layers of the onion were pulled back.

That said, strip clubs can be a lot of fun when you know what you are doing, strip clubs and strippers don't rip off EVERYONE, they only rip-off the weak and the stupid, or the guys with so much money they don't give a fuck about dropping ten of thousands of dollars without even getting laid.

Two strikes on one swing of the bat.  Not bad.
.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hustler_Club
"The Hustler Club is a series of bars and chain of go-go clubs owned by Hustler magazine publisher Larry Flynt." There are currently 14 licensed Hustler Clubs. All of the major Hustler Clubs are Flynt licensees ... or they run the risk of being sued for infringement (which is NOT a reference to the fringes some stripper g-strings).
.
Then, it is NOT like saying, "there is a restaurant named Wong's in Chinatown."  It is like saying, "There is a great kosher restaurant in Chinatown and their Roast Pork Egg Foo Young is fantastic." The joke is that THERE ARE  NO REPUTABLE STRIP CLUBS! that I have ever heard of. Whether it is watered-down drinks, overpriced colored water that you buy for the dancers, charging $250 for a $20 bottle of champagne, adding in gratuities w/o authorization, lap or table dances that end before the song is over, having to tip the bathroom attendant to hand you a paper towel, ... it's an expensive bit of fun that you can keep under control if you avoid drugged drinks, getting rolled in the parking lot, or having your pocket picked. Bring cash only and do not bring your credit card! If they don't drug your money out of you, some of them can charm your money out of you.
.
You can still find old stories at groups . google . com under alt.sex.strip-clubs. When you search, include ASSC or assc or [ASSC] in your subject line search. Posters used to know that the spambots posted EVERYWHERE and helped to kill off usenet but only legit posters knew to add [ASSC] to their subject line to make it easier to filter for legit messages.
.
And I am sure that, with her long experience, lopaw knows her way around the clubs and WHAT is reputable within an otherwise disreputable club ... and she's surely getting more action at the clubs than I ever did.

Watch out for infringement issues!

Sorry IMP, I know you do try, but you know about as much about strip clubs as you do about ...
I know about MY experiences at Boston and NY strip clubs. I used to drive home one Boston stripper and knew several others from their sob stories that they would tell me "off the clock." (They would sit with me to get away from the rest of the crowd because I am a nice guy, a good listener, and I gave them non-judgemental helpful advice.)  The exotic dancer I drove home was a fascinating person who told me a lot about herself (easily verified). I kind of miss her and wonder how she's doing. BUT ... I was always a friend, never a boyfriend.
.
Three Brazilian sister strippers (J---, J----, and J-------) in Manhattan were among my faves there.  We got to talking one night (their car was in the shop or something) and I offered to drive them home and it turned out they were living not far from where I grew up! It was kind of out of my way, but I probably would have driven them but they got a ride from a friend.
.
I don't need a stripper GF, except in my fantasies.
.
When they make your and lopaw's book into a movie, I want a part. I could play the owner, the dj ... maybe even a patron. As long as I get a sex scene, I'm in.

Are there any reputable strip club patrons?

As for the difference between strippers and escorts, it is only a matter of degrees, ditto for porn stars and phone sex gals.

I can think of at least 4 escorts whom I know pretty well who started off as a stripper, and I don't think the division is as deep as some choose to think it is.

It's all a matter of degree, and while I am always alert for scams, Imp makes it sound like like ALL strip clubs are fraught with danger and people looking to rip you off the moment you let your guard down. I also know several women who have bounced back and forth between the escort and stripper worlds, and a few more who bounce back and forth between the Sugar Baby world as well.

I don't mean this just as a slam to Imp, but while Google can most definitely be your friend, an over reliance on the internet to form your opinions is not necessarily a good thing. Look at our TER world for example, if you were to rely on Google to base your opinions on how the TER world works you would come away with a VERY distorted idea of how things really work around here. The same can be said about the stripper world. You really can't get an unbiased or accurate opinion about how things work when all the sources are "victims" Just like TER.

not having thousands of dollars to drop around.
My late friend, who was also a member of TER used to like to go to strip clubs. He would spend money, not exactly waste it. I would go with him and spend as little as possible. We would always be under the influence of something.
I remember having some of the wildest most fun nights at those places. The girls would "befriend" him and they would call me his side kick They could tell I was broke. Anybody can still see I am broke. But I would still be nice and sit and tip them. Which reminds me last time I went to one. Some guys are really, really broke or stingy. That's when the DJ starts saying nasty comments. But they don't seem to care.
Strip clubs are funny places. There are the guys throwing thousands of dollars a minute, making it rain. There are others looking sad and desperate. There are the guys who are having fun. There might be there with a gf, wive or more than one girls or with male friends. Then there is the girls. Some would be beautiful and some would be so ugly, too fugly to be there. Some would be nice and others not so nice. Some would fight with each other. There would be the drug users and they would be so wasted on stage. The crazy security guys and door man is another story.
Last time I went to one I was listening to my own music with earphones and the owner gave me a look. yeah, he was the owner.
I will go see this movie or might just wait and download it for free. I hope I can see what I have seen in real life and that I can relate to it as a consumer point of view. Most clubs you just look, in some you can touch more. My friend would go to the VIP room. Then there were some where everything goes. That place I remember in a strip mall. There was the club, there was a bar and a restaurant all in the same area. I remember telling my friend that you could live there and not having to go anywhere else.
I might visit some strip clubs this weekend for the fun of it. Maybe on day drive to Upland or whatever one of those sex in the back strip clubs was.
Thanks for the memories.

For a movie about strippers and a strip club and based on a true story there was barely any tits or ass. It was just in the background and certainly with none of the main characters. If they would have edited a few scenes out and toned down the language, they could have shown this movie on network TV. No very realistic at all.

"SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Yesterday, California Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law Assembly Bill 5 (AB 5), a sweeping piece of legislation that rewrites the state’s employment law to address the status of independent contractors, including dancers at strip clubs.
.
The bill passed the legislature last week and was sold to voters as a possible answer to 21st-Century issues like the “gig economy,” corporate use (and abuse) of “perma-lancers” and ways in which employers get around labor protections by deceitfully characterizing some workers’ status. ..."
.
Some dancers (and other gig workers) absolutely WANTED this law approved. Other dancers (and other gig workers) absolutely did NOT want this law approved. It does not affect me directly but how about a compromise:  Everyone that qualifies shall be covered by the law by default but they may OPT OUT if they so choose.
.
The downside is that many businesses will pressure gig workers to opt OUT. "You want to dance on Saturday night? Sure ... I'll opt you in to that shift if you opt yourself out of AB 5. Otherwise, that shift is already filled with other opter-outers."
.
I wonder what J-Lo would do?
