Stories about this new, anti-biotic-resistant strain of the clap have been circulating for years.  Keep up, scooter.

Most of the time when you hear about the "resistant" STD's coming out of [insert misc 3rd world country] all that's really happened is someone went on a raw dog bender and caught something, then got half assed treatment (or half assed the treatment themselves) and then waited until symptoms became debilitating before seeking proper treatment.

Think about it. If they got it from someone, how is that someone still working and not dead? The bacterial stuff isn't just magically contagious right away. It has to incubate for awhile, which means whomever the idiot john caught it from would have to have debilitating symptoms too, which is unlikely given that these things affect women more veraciously than men (better incubation environment) and she's clearly still working.

I chalk all this up to the standard media scare-mongering, which isn't to say that you should go on a raw-dog bender in Thailand, just that it's not some magically huge risk to see these girls.

It’s a smart bacteria that mutates all the time and requires new antibacteria medicines often. This is just another mutation where the new treatments are not affective.

As for symptoms, both women and men may not know they have it for a long time.

Read what the CDC says about it.

I'm well aware of the CDC's take on it. They're very conservative with their advice because they're trying to protect the public at large.

If you look into *why* we're getting antibiotic resistant bacteria it's pretty clear that it's from idiots not getting proper treatment. Basically, if you stop using the antibiotics when it stops hurting to pee, congrats, you've just bread super bacteria in your dick.

What it's not is magically smart bacteria that mutates all by itself. Most infectious bacteria is mutation prone by it's very nature but it's certainly not smart in the way you're alluding to.

"The bacteria that cause gonorrhea are particularly smart,"

I agree where people are prescribed meds and fail to complete the treatment it makes them stronger spreading to others having survived the meds that should have work had the full treatment plan been taken.

Also over prescripted antibiotics for simple colds make it difficult to work when they are really needed.

But still this bug is not life threatening and can go undetected by both men and women for a long time and spread rapidly.

If you aren't smart enough to wrap that rascal, ESPECIALLY in a country known as a sex playground you are lucky breathing is automatic.
Otherwise you might forget.
