Billy is an iconoclast. He did what no one couldn't. Work on a shoestring budget to win 100+ games not once but at least two years. Although, he did not attain success in the post season,  post season is a crapshoot anyway.  Boston Red Sox used the same formula in 2004 and won W.S.

BTW, you are not only myopic in calling Billy Beane hyped, but also factually wrong.  Billy Bean is not the current GM of A's. It's David Forst. Billy Beane is the Executive VP of Player Operations.  And BTW,  he hasn't been A's GM since 2016.

Back to playoffs.. Lot of average teams make it to playoffs and sometimes go deep and even win WS.  Nats were just above average team in 2019 when they won W.S. They played very spirited ball in Oct, but overall they were only above average. Dodgers, Astros*, Yankees, Braves were lot better teams.  Nats won. Luck is a huge factor.  In 2012, 2014, 2016 Nats were a really good team, but chocked.  It happens all the times.. Happens in regular games as well.  No one cares as the stage is much smaller in April, May, June.. etc.

If we had a system that they had prior to 1968, where the winners of AL and NL met in WS, i am sure we would have much different picture.

Also, I don't know if you like to read or not, but I will  say this.. Michael Lewis is a hands down one of my favorite contemporary writers.  Just started reading "Big Short".. Great read.. You should try that.. Reading that is.. instead of cherry picking random facts trying to make yourself look smart.

Peace Out..

was the one that your Doctor sent your mamma that the nurse dropped you on the head..Might want to go back and delve in the records  I think you got a good case here if you hire the right kind of attorneys.

Obviously you are not smart enough to understand that the sample size of the regular season is 162 games and that of a post season series is anywhere between 1 to 7 games depending on which series it is..
