A cab ride is $5.00, why walk? Get your workout at AB. I understand that there is a cab co. that caterers to T.J. locals and thay are less expensive, but the fellas at the border, or on the Rev will take care of you....
Bien suerte

I always go TJ during the day and walked the last time just to try it out.  Lots of tourists around almost the entire way so I felt very safe even being by myself.  The walk was not long at all.  A little scary going north on rev. but I just walked in the street.  Even got to meet Texas Mike.  If I went at night I would most certainly take a cab.  I guess if you walk it's not as much about saving $5 as it is about the experience.

If you want to do it, just head toward the walking bridge and go over.  This lets you off on 1st first.  Head west until Rev which is only 2 blocks, then one block north on Rev.  This is the corner where you can meet Texas Mike and see AB & CC.

Damn, screwed up directions on my last post.  The corner of which I spoke is one block north of 1st on Constitucion and   Constitucion is one block west of Rev, so depending on where you are on Rev, it could be a short walk.

you can click the link and there are two maps of the Zone and how to get to Revolucion.

Primera (1st St.) used to be Bandido alley but they cleaned it up before they built the huge arch and giant Mexico flag, both landmarks you can see for miles.

One of my dumb shit friends took a cab from Adelita's to Chicago, about 15 yards, around the corner.

1st and Revolucion so the Red Zone is very close.  I may just have to take a detour next time.

I like to walk a lot and have walked to and from the border during the day and late at night, but now I usually take the taxi's unless it's from the Zone to Revolucion. Why?

I've been very lucky and have never been hassled by the cops, the bad cops that want bribes on fake charges. From what I understand, there is a huge system of cops that are required to kick money up and up and up and have a quota for bribe money. There are honest cops in TJ, but there are also some bad ones too, just like on any large police force.

Don't cause any problems and your chances are lessened. Keep your exposure to a minimum and that's to park on the US side and take taxi's all over the place.

Remember, you are in a foreign country and it's a bitch when you have problems. I had one friend that got really sick and he was lucky in that he was a regular and one of the waiters in the club got him to the border, had some Americans take him over the border and he was rushed to the hospital. You don't want to be stuck in a TJ hospital.

TJ is loads of fun, can be really cheap from alcohol, food, drinks and women, but be respectful since you are a visitor.

If any of you are serious about going to TJ, there are lots of guys here on TER that have a lot of info but there are many sites devoted to TJ that has more info than we can all provide. Most are pay sites but it's worth the small amount to have a great, safe time. These pay sites are just like TER, that they have reviews of the girls. The only problem is to actually find the girls since in the bars, they don't wear name tags. If I were you, and have never been to TJ to play, try the hand full of TJ Internet girls.

The bars in TJ can be full of land mines. Many of the bars/strip clubs on Revolucion have TS/TV's. Chicago Club doesn't get going until 8-9 PM, Hong Kong doesn't open up until late afternoon and the other bars have chicas that don't speak much English. If you are going during the day, best bet for a chica club is Adelita's. There are still many chicas that don't speak English but there are many that are fairly fluent oin English.
Beware of the really aggressive girls that want you to buy them a drink or take you up stairs. Although the hotels provide condoms, I'd recommend that you bring your own favorite brand or buy them at one of the nearby pharmacies. There's one pharmacy that's open all night that's on the corner of 2nd and Constitucion. High prices but convenient. Both real and generic Viagra is all over the place and if you do indulge, it's best to shop around for the best price. NEVER buy at the border pharmacies unless you are really pressed for time.

Border waits can be brutal, but they have a special lane for bus riders (pick up a bus at the TJ bus terminal) or rent a bicycle for $5-7 and they have a seperate line, x-ray scanner and customs line for bicyclists. It's worth the money when the line is out the door. On a crowded night, when I was coming back home, the line had to be around 2-3 hours long, I rented a bike and it was 25 minutes. Bike rentals are just south of the customs building and there's one place right next to the police sub station.

Driving down is the best bet.  Leave SD by 2-3pm mid week and cross with no delay.  1 1/2 hr at Adelitas, (I took two upstairs at the same time for $60 each last trip).....Back across the border by 4:30 - 5:00.  Very little border wait coming Norte on a weekday.  Cocktails with the little lady in San Diego at 6pm............"How was your day dear?"...."It was OK, I'm a little tired though."

Never walk alone to the zona norte and never after or near dark... muggers are everywhere...  and right in front of other people even.... always use cabs.....to and from those bars.
