Your three favorite Music Artists (Groups)

Just random, but since the Super Bowl is in MN, made me reminisce about Prince. For me, my top three, in no particular order: Metallica, Prince, Michael Jackson. I grew up in the 80's. I could throw in Led Zeppelin and NWA too. I have a broad taste in music. I appreciate  talent for what it is across all genres. No Michael Jackson jokes...we all have our opinions about him. Just talking about musical talent and fave artists.

The Cramps, a garage punk band that emerged during the late 1970s and who were active until about 2009 (when lead vocalist Lux Interior died); they combined punk, rockabilly, surf and a don’t give a crap attitude into a unique style and sound.

Can’t Find My Mind, Don’t Eat Stuff Off the Sidewalk, Fever (cover), Garbageman, Goo Goo Muck, Lonesome Town (cover), Primitive (cover), Surfin’ Dead, Uranium Rock (cover) and Voodoo Idol are some of my favorite tracks.

As far as other groups/musical styles, it depends on my mood and what I’m doing; I like everything from Big Band Swing, Classical, Disco, Electronica, Techno-Industrial - you name it.  I tend to like specific songs over groups.

Posts like this! Not industry related, not political...just a plain and simple conversation starter! This is a welcome departure from all the negativity, criticism & complaining that seems to be dominating the discussion boards lately!

So...here’s my three that came to mind right now (if I think too long on it, I’m sure my answers would change a few times!)

Sublime
Prince
Elton John

I totally agree; just some normal conversation.

Good picks by the way.

Edited for clarity 🧐

I agree about these posts.  There was one in the Chicago Regional about fun places to go.  The ladies responding with non-strip clubs had great leads, many of which I did not know about with live music and just fun.  Never had huge desire for just WBTYM.

I couldn’t agree more ... in addition it allows people to get to know more about on another... in my case notices we have similar tastes in music .. clicks profile ... links to p411.. links to your web page ... reads clicks around ... picks jaw up off ground ... starts tying to figure out how to cross paths

EVERYWHERE! Thank you for the lovely compliment.

Second...if you are a fan of Sublime, check out Black Bottom Lighters. A client I spent a lot of time with the past year and a half turned me on to them. Very similar style.

Third...the best way to cross paths quickly would be to take advantage of my incredibly discounted Fly Me To You engagements. Or at least email me for pre-screening so I can add you to my advance email list when I start traveling again sometime in March/April.

The top of the page says all topics must be hobby, erotica, or sex related. This actually belongs on the "media" board.  There have been tons of music threads on this board in the past but they usually ask what music you like during a session, or what you listen to while having sex, or what music makes you want to have sex, etc. That would make it relavent to this board. This thread is not relavent. 😊

I wondered the same thing myself.  Silly me.

Metallica, Iron Maiden, NOFX.  OK, I know, NOFX is punk.

But, over the years, one always stood out over others, Brian Eno.

I think he'll go down as the Mozart of our age.

Indeed. "Baby's on Fire" is one of my fave songs of all time. Robert Fripp's guitar shredding is mind blowing!

If I had to pick just one of Eno's songs, it would be The True Wheel from his second solo album, Taking Tiger Mountain.

Here it is.   Note the elaborate structure, and how the names of three different bands appear in the lyrics:

One of my favorite tracks!
If you guys like Eno, I gotta recommend Arthur Russell.
A bit on the slower side but I just got a regular obsessed with him & love turning people on to new music.

..... because I tell myself that this song is my favorite, all the time.
So here are 3 that have been favorites at different times.

Ian Dury and the Blockheads
Frank Zappa and the Mothers
Atlanta Rhythm Section

There are so many more.

Zappa, with the Mothers and after, is a favorite for sure. 2nd greatest guitarist ever IMO. The first being Hendrix, of course (all bow down).

I just ordered the 7 disc Roxy Sessions set.
I had to leave out Mr. Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn etc. etc. etc.
There are just too many.

Indeed there are. You're going to LOVE the Roxy set, one of my favorites of his. I've owned almost all of his ~70 albums at one time or another.

Ry Cooder in all his interpretations.  Here he is with Ali Farka Toure, some of you will recognize theme music from "The World" program on NPR

Last but not least is Coltrane, when its late at night and nothing else will do.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clC6cgoh1sU

Rush, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Metallica and Led Zeppelin. I like many genres, but these bands specifically have have so many hit songs, over many albums, they stand out. Beyond having so many albums and songs that have become hits, Pink Floyd, Metallica and Zeppelin, had a totally different sound with each new album released. When Ozzy went solo, his albums also sounded completely different than the sound of Black Sabbath. It’s one thing to be talented and make hit music, it’s another level when you can completely change your sound with each new album and still be successful over and over.

Prince
Miles Davis
Tupac
There are many more that are my favs but if I had to narrow it down I would go with the above.
I have quite  a diverse music taste ranging from the group Journey to Elton John(I will always smile at the memories of seeing him center stage 3rd row elton puts on one hell of a show)to jazz music and oldies.

The longer their history, the greater variety, and the more ups and downs.  Bob Dylan (all over the musical board)? Frank Sinatra (went on too long)? Beatles (covered so many musical bases)? But I'll take a stab.
.
Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra (of Amsterdam)
Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra
Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra
and a tip of the hat to my local favorites:
Boston Symphony Orchestra (BSO)
New York Philharmonic Orchestra (NYPO)

Not sure orchestra's count. In general they haven't written music and only interpret music by others like Mozart, Beethoven, etc

OP wasn't clear. There are Creative Arts, Performing Arts, Martial Arts and other arts and mixtures.  Many of my hostesses are embodiments of Visual Art and practitioners of Performance Art.
.
But you're right. Orchestras are primarily Performance Artists (with limited opportunity to add something creative to the composers' works).

I do!! I was very young when they were around (not even in double digits) but I remember the record cover for that song too - a woman in leather with spikes strategically placed where her nipples were (Madonna was not first with that shit) and my dad saying ‘what the hell do you THINK you’re going to be listening to?’ When I brought my saved up for copy Home  🤣
They were brilliant then and still are now!
