and in the end get a  clear answer and date as to when you will get your money.

Anything less, then I would contact whatever state agency regulates lawyers and file a complaint.

good luck, it sounds like you might need it.

(still not a lawyer)

and got me a lawyer. The other guy insurance is not a lot. So lawyer settles for $15,000.
Ok. I signed this check and send it back to lawyer. I don't hear anything so I call.
The tell me that 2 medical providers have to still agree. I ask what if they don't agree?
She says they have to. They will agree. To follow up next friday.

My question, medical providers to agree on what? Do they want more money than offered by insurer or by lawyer? What the hell is going on? Doc didn't do anything much as lawyer didn't authorize as he didn't see much money. Had there been money I would have pretended to be half dead. But in actuality I was ok.
1/3  for the lawyer. people say 1/3 should be for me and the other part of medical.
It's been 8 months already

the first thing to do is call the law office back. Speak to the lawyer and ask him to answer all your questions so that YOU understand, that's one of his purposes.

California
at the time I didn't have no insurance. I was going to a period of very bad luck. So no more health insurance and no car insurance as I wasn't driving. After a couple of near misses, closed calls and what I called warnings and visions... this guy hits me while walking... Many of the things I've been thru the last 2 years or so. But now it's over and I'm even working. People say everybody has a  rash of bad luck sometimes.
But I already signed a check released by the insurance co.  The lady at the law office says that they're waiting for 2 medical providers to agree. That they will. I'll call back next friday. Or better yet I'll go there.

You must talk to him personally asap.  Write your questions down b4 going.  Get answers you understand b4 leaving his office.  Don't be shy, it isn't always easy.  Write answers down, even if nervous - go with moral support.

I bet you'll be back here again.  Maybe with good news.
Good luck.

...amount they will receive from the settlement.  Your settlement was based on the amount of medical bills you incurred.  Lawyers try to get the amount of the bills as high as possible so the settlement will be higher.

You have not paid any of the doctor bills yet.  After the settlement, the lawyers negotiate with the doctors to accept a lesser amount than they billed so the client will get more of the settlement.  Otherwise, the 15k would be split by the lawyer and the doctors and you would receive bupkis ( a Latin word used by lawyers).

I always wondered about that word.

Turns out to be Yiddish.  I should have known.

Hypothetically, if med bills are high enough would you be looking or have looked for other tortfeasors (defendants) eg. brake mechanic, other vehiclle problems, not tires inflated not inspected by last mechanic, or other problems relating to car not stopping,  lighting, city, county, etc. vs. recovery/costs - incramental value of each additional defendant.   etc.
