the young newly-arrived Novice to ride bicycles with her into town, and off they went together from the Convent.  After a short time, the Mother Superior yelled out, "Follow me, I know a short cut."  When they arrived earlier than expected, the Novice declared, "It was a little bumpy, but it was indeed shorter.  I never came that way before," to which the Reverend Mother replied, " I know.  It's the cobblestones."
